The ACT Explore program was a curriculum-based assessment program designed to help 8th grade students gain an understanding of their academic development in terms of preparation for college, make the most of their opportunities in high school and beyond, and guide them as they start thinking about future educational and career planning.
ACT Explore assessed academic progress, provided an early indicator of college readiness, helped students understand and begin to explore the wide range of career options open to them, and assisted them in developing a high school coursework plan that prepared them to achieve their post-high school goals.
All students enrolled in a Kentucky public school in grade 8, except those enrolled in the Alternate Assessment program, completed the EXPLORE assessment, until it was discontinued in 2014.
