The intent of this e-mail is to inform you of the recent changes in the teacher and administrator standards. In February 2008, the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) revised the administrative regulation, 16 KAR 1:010, which establishes the standards required for certified school personnel to obtain or maintain certification. The revised regulation includes one set of standards for all teachers. The order of the standards differ from the order in the previous version of the regulation, but the intent of the standards remain the same and the wording is similar for all ten (10) teacher standards.
Since the indicators and continuum for the revised teacher standards are not included in the regulation, the local district will not be required to revise their Certified Personnel Evaluation plan. However, it is a local district decision whether or not to make changes to their plan. If changes are made to the plan, the local and state processes for approval must be followed.
