Change your Life...Change the Lives of Children

 

The Kentucky Department of Education is looking for mid-career professionals and recent college graduates who have not completed a teacher preparation program.

 

Our goal is to recruit and retain highly qualified individuals to meet the needs of high-need, high-poverty Kentucky school districts in specific subject areas.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

 

 * A desire to teach in one of the subjects identified as high need (math, science, language arts, social studies/government, arts and humanities, special education, English as a second language (ESL) or world languages)

 

* A mid-career professional or recent college graduate who has not completed a teacher preparation program

 

What are the Benefits?

 

*Receive a $5,000 stipend ($3,000 first year, $2,000 second year)

*Receive one-on-one coaching

*Provisions for professional development

*Teacher certification upon the satisfactory completion of all requirements

 

 

What are my Responsibilities?

 

*Completion of the on-line Transition to Teaching application

*Acceptance into the alternative certification/ M.A.T. program with one of our partner universities

*Secure employment with one of our partner schools

*Make a three-year commitment to teach in the school district

*Completion of your coursework

*Completion of the Kentucky Internship Program (KTIP)

*Successful completion of the specialty test (PRAXIS II)
