These released items are representative of assessment items on the Kentucky Core Content Test (KCCT). Each content area and grade level has a set of multiple choice questions and open response items. Most sub-domain areas of a content area will have items that assess the sub-domain but not all.
The released items require that Adobe Acrobat Reader be installed on your computer. There is a link on this page where the latest version of Acrobat Reader can be downloaded for free.
The released items are formatted like the new KCCT test booklet that merges the test items and the answer booklet. Included with the assessment items are response space, scoring information, sample annotated student responses, and instructional connections.
The scoring information includes the academic expectations and core content addressed by the items and correct answer information (answer keys for the multiple choice items and scoring guides for the open response items). Information is included on how students performed on the released items during the 2003 assessment. The scoring information includes the percentage of students who answered the multiple choice items correctly and the percentages of students scoring at each of the score points (Blank, 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4) for each open response item.
The sample student responses include examples of actual student answers to the open response released items. Included are examples at score points 1, 2, 3, and 4 that are annotated to the scoring guide. The annotations highlight the content included in the answer and explain the reason for the particular score with a summary statement.
The instructional connections section contains multiple classroom strategies suggested for teaching the identified core content assessed by the released item.
