School and District Calendars
Local boards of education are required to adopt a school calendar prior to May 15th of each year for the upcoming school year. The calendar shows school days, holidays, professional development days designated for parent teacher conferences.
KDE Event Moratorium for 2007-2008
Each year, the Kentucky Department of Education sets a series of dates during which we ask our own staff and other organizations to avoid being in schools and scheduling events for teachers and administrators. The dates are selected because they are extremely busy times for schools and districts.
Please make every attempt to avoid being in schools and scheduling conferences and meetings during these times.
Note: The moratorium dates listed below apply to the school levels indicated beside each event.
· month of August 2007 -- beginning of school year moratorium (all schools)
· September 17-28, 2007 -- EXPLORE, PLAN (middle and high schools) and 12th-grade on-demand writing assessments (high schools)
· March 11, 2008 -- ACT (high schools)
· March 25, 2008 -- ACT Administration Make-up Day (high schools)
· April 21 - May 2, 2008 -- CATS testing Moratorium (all schools)
· May 12 - June 6, 2008 -- end of school year moratorium (all schools)
· month of August 2008 -- beginning of school year moratorium (all schools)

September 15-26, 2008 - EXPLORE, PLAN and 12th Grade OnDemand Writing tests
