DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize and deliver direct support services to schools and districts in response to their needs by addressing audit/review recommendations.
Work closely with No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Tier III districts by serving on statewide assistance teams, e.g. Voluntary Partnership Assistance Teams, State Assistance Teams, and Network Assistance Teams.
Assist districts in developing and implementing research-based strategies that are proven effective in addressing the specific instructional issues that caused the district and schools to be identified for school improvement.
Network with professional development providers, including educational cooperatives, to identify and broker services that address specific needs of districts and schools.
Collaborate with local education agencies to develop, implement, and monitor plans that, if fully implemented, meet the district and school's improvement goals as defined by NCLB and Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS).
Assist in analyzing district and school budgets to ensure effective coordination among all parties and allocation of resources to increase academic achievement and close achievement gaps.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A current Rank II certification by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board with 10 years experience working as an educator or administrator in a Kentucky public school system, an institution of higher education, or other education agencies providing services to public schools.
Preferred skills:
Rank I certification by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.
Experience designing and providing high-quality, job-embedded, standards-based professional development.
Extensive knowledge of Kentucky’s Standards and Indicators for District/School Improvement as well as other curriculum documents.
Knowledge of the effective use of Title I, Part A funds.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout assigned areas of the state.
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to achievement gaps (NCLB and Senate Bill 168 and related regulations).
Knowledge of state education leadership organizations, entities, and resources available.

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment can be given.
In accordance with KRS 161.220 the applicant selected for this position will be a member of the Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System.
This location of the work will be in Western Kentucky (Allen County, Christian County, Fulton County, Paducah Independent, and Russellville Independent are the specific districts where the primary work will take place. Others could be added depending on NCLB status after this testing cycle.) The contract for this position will be for 235 days.
NOTE: This position will be filled through a Master of Agreement (MOA). The applicant selected for this position must be an employee of a Kentucky local school district or institution of higher education. Employment contract will be for one year, renewable up to a maximum of three years.
