DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the administrative direction of the Associate Commissioner, Office of Leadership and School Improvement, the Director of Scholastic Assistance will supervise staff and programs supporting the oversight of the Scholastic Audit and Review process, the Highly Skilled Educator (HSE) Program, Targeted Assistance Coaches, Comprehensive School Improvement Funds, and Standards and Indicators for School Improvement for the Kentucky Department of Education.
Interpret and accurately apply federal and state statutes, regulations, and applicable policies and procedures.
Examine and develop processes toward improved efficiency and effectiveness.
Provide technical assistance to agency heads, deputy agency heads, and department staff, as needed.
Oversee the administration of the division budget, analyze the effectiveness of division programs, and implement policies within the division.
Evaluate workloads, procedures, methods, and implement changes as necessary to increase performance and efficiency.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a graduate of a college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in education. Must have five years of professional experience in the field of education, vocational education or a related field.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in classroom teaching, district and/or school-level administration, administration of federal and state programs of intervention for low performing schools, the Kentucky Standards and Indicators for School Improvement, and the scholastic audit process.

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment being given.
In accordance with KRS 161.220 the applicant selected for this position will become a member of the Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System.
Gross Monthly Salary Range: $6,083.34 - $6,833.34
Gross Annual Salary Range: $73,000.00 - $82,000.00
