(FRANKFORT, Ky.) -- Results from the spring 2003 administration of the Kentucky Core Content Test (KCCT) will be released in early October, the Kentucky Department of Education announced today.
The KCCT data is the third component in the Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS). The other components -- nonacademic and Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS) data -- were released in July and August, respectively. The three components are used to determine schools' accountability indices.
KCCT data includes information about schools' performance in seven subject areas: reading; mathematics; science; social studies; writing (portfolios and on-demand prompts); arts and humanities; and practical living/vocational studies.
Along with the KCCT data, schools will receive information related to the requirements of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. This information also will be released publicly; however, the embargo dates for the two sets of data will be separate to enable school and district officials opportunities to analyze the information.
The timeline for data release is as follows:
* October 1 -- Schools and districts receive KCCT data via electronic delivery. Information is embargoed for public release until October 7 at noon EDT. Schools and districts also receive preliminary NCLB data via electronic delivery. Information is embargoed for public release until October 14 at noon EDT.
* October 7 -- KCCT data is released publicly at noon EDT.
* October 9 (tentative; more details at a later date) -- Informal news media briefing to provide information on Kentucky's approach to NCLB and background on NCLB data.
* October 14 -- NCLB data is released publicly at noon EDT.
