(FRANKFORT, Ky.) -- In mid-October, the Kentucky Department of Education will release data related to the Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS) and the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act.
On Wednesday, October 13, data from the spring 2004 administration of the Kentucky Core Content Test (KCCT) and the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS) will be released. The information is embargoed until 10 a.m. EST.
A news conference will be held at 10 a.m. that day to present the results. The conference is scheduled for the State Board Room on the first floor of the Capital Plaza Tower in Frankfort.
Data will include scores from the KCCT and CTBS, along with school and district accountability indices and performance judgments.
On Thursday, October 14, updated status determinations for NCLB will be released at approximately 2 p.m. The information will be posted on the Department of Education's Web site (http://www.education.ky.gov) and is not embargoed.
To comply with federal guidelines, the Department of Education released preliminary data for NCLB in August, based on the multiple-choice portions of the KCCT in reading and mathematics. The NCLB data to be released on October 14 is based on both the multiple-choice and open-response portions of the KCCT in reading and mathematics.
Also in August, the department released nonacademic data (dropout, attendance, retention and successful transition to adult life rates), which, along with KCCT and CTBS scores, comprise school and district accountability indices.
