P-16 COUNCIL TO MEET

            (FRANKFORT, Ky.) -- The P-16 Council will meet Tuesday, December 14, in the State Board Room on the first floor of the Capital Plaza Tower in Frankfort.

            The meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Agenda items include a review of Governor Fletcher's education vision and mathematics and English standards for students.

            The P-16 Council is made up of representatives from the Kentucky Board of Education and the Commissioner of Education, the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education and the council president, the Education Professional Standards Board and other state agencies. Created in 1999, the P-16 Council advises the Kentucky Board of Education and the Council on Postsecondary Education on the education of teachers, the alignment of competency standards and the elimination of barriers impeding student transition from preschool through the baccalaureate.
