(FRANKFORT, Ky.) -- The Kentucky Department of Education will release 2003-04 nonacademic data for public schools on Thursday, May 26.
Release of the data is embargoed until 12:01 a.m. EDT, which means that media outlets may print or broadcast information about the data at any time beginning on Thursday.
Non-academic data is comprised of dropout, graduation, retention, attendance and successful transition to adult life rates. With the exception of graduation rates, which are required under the federal NCLB Act, each rate contributes a specific percentage to a school's overall accountability index.
The data will be accessible through the department's Web site at http://www.education.ky.gov.
The release of nonacademic data is one component of the Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS). The other two components -- the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS) and Kentucky Core Content Test (KCCT) results -- will be released in September. Reading and mathematics information from the KCCT will be released in early August to comply with federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act mandates.
