(FRANKFORT, Ky.) -- Six Kentucky schools were recognized at the first Schools to Watch national conference, held earlier this month in Washington, D.C.
In 2004 and 2005, the six schools were named Schools to Watch under an initiative sponsored by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform. The program is designed to showcase schools around the country that meet the forum's criteria for high performance -- academic excellence, developmental responsiveness and social equity
The forum hosted its first Schools to Watch conference June 9-11 to provide opportunities for recognition, networking and sharing of best practices. More than 55 schools from across the country were honored at the conference, including Kentucky's 2004 and 2005 Schools to Watch:

The National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform is an alliance of more than 60 educators, researchers, national associations and officers of professional organizations and foundations committed to promoting the academic performance and healthy development of young adolescents.
