(FRANKFORT, Ky.) -- In July, four Kentucky organizations received awards for food service activities in their communities in fiscal year 2005.
The four are:
- Ashland Child Development Center, Inc., which earned the award for Best Monthly Documentation from a Family Day Care Home Sponsor.
- Child Care Council of Kentucky, Inc., in Lexington, which earned the award for Best Implementation of Policies from a Family Day Care Home Sponsor.
- Children, Inc., in Covington, which earned the award for Best Monitoring of a Family Day Care Program in the State.
- Purchase Area Development District, Inc. (PADD), in Mayfield, which earned the award for Best Application from a Family Day Care Home Sponsor.
This is the first year for the awards, which were presented by the Kentucky Department of Education's Child and Adult Care Food Program. The program operates under the Division of Nutrition and Health Services.
Through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), the four organizations receive funding to provide nutritious meals to children in family day care homes in their areas. The four also provide support to help build child/parent relationships and strengthen the family unit.
