(FRANKFORT, Ky.) -- Kentucky Education Commissioner Gene Wilhoit will visit Kentucky's newest No Child Left Behind/Blue Ribbon Schools in October.
In September, the U.S. Department of Education announced nearly 300 winners of the 2005 Blue Ribbon Schools awards nationwide. Four Kentucky public schools were named Blue Ribbon Schools:
- Brodhead Elementary, Rockcastle Co.
- Lost River Elementary, Warren Co.
- Salyersville Elementary, Magoffin Co.
- Southern Elementary, Ohio Co.
The awards recognize public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement.
During his visits, the commissioner will meet with students and staff to congratulate
them on their achievements. All times listed below are local.
