KENTUCKY BOARD OF EDUCATION THANKS TEACHERS

News Release 06-018 -- April 13, 2006

          (FRANKFORT, Ky.) – In recognition of National Teacher Day and Teacher Appreciation Week, the Kentucky Board of Education has issued a resolution that expresses gratitude to the state’s teachers for their hard work and dedication.

          Teacher Appreciation Week begins May 8, and National Teacher Day will be celebrated on May 9.

          Board members enthusiastically approved a motion to issue a resolution that praises teachers for their professionalism, dedication and efforts to improve their own knowledge and teaching styles.

          Several board members formerly were teachers, administrators or local school board members in Kentucky school districts.

To All To Whom These Presents Shall Come:

 

Whereas,                    Tuesday, May 9, 2006, is National Teacher Day and the week of  May 8 is Teacher Appreciation Week; and

 

Whereas,                    Kentucky teachers are the education professionals in classrooms on a daily basis committed to assuring that each child is given the maximum opportunity to achieve at high levels; and

 

Whereas,                    Kentucky teachers are continually adding to their collection of instructional strategies through professional development in order to meet the learning needs of students; and

 

Whereas,                    Kentucky teachers are outstanding professionals preparing students to be productive, responsible citizens; and

 

Whereas,                    Kentucky teachers have responded to the challenges placed upon them by the Kentucky Education Reform Act and work diligently every day to move students to proficiency by 2014; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Kentucky Board of Education to recognize and extend its sincere gratitude to Kentucky teachers for their service to the students of this Commonwealth.
