(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – Jessica Stamper, a 2006 graduate of Oldham County High School, is Kentucky's
recipient of the Buster Bynum Scholarship from the Southeastern States Pupil Transportation Conference
(SESPTC).
The Buster Bynum Scholarship is a $1,000 one-time award to a graduating senior who has a parent
employed in pupil transportation. The scholarship is awarded to a public high school graduate with at least a 3.0
scholastic average and who will be attending a postsecondary institution in the fall after graduation.
Jessica is the daughter of Deborah Stamper of Crestwood. Deborah Stamper is employed as a bus driver
by the Oldham County Board of Education.
The Buster Bynam Scholarship is named for Rewel Alonzo "Buster" Bynum, retired director of the Virginia
Department of Education's pupil transportation office. The SESPTC began the program in 2005 and awards a
$1,000 scholarship to one student in each member state.
The Southeastern States Pupil Transportation Conference is a non-profit corporation created more than 54 years ago to host an annual conference focused on educating student transportation professionals working in the southeast. The member southeastern states are Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia .
