News Advisory 06-049 -- September 14, 2006

(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – Data from the Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS) will be publicly released on Thursday, September 21.

The information is embargoed until 12:01 a.m. EDT that day, meaning that media outlets may broadcast or print the data at any time on or after Thursday.

This data release includes results from the Kentucky Core Content Tests (KCCT) and the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS). Information about school and district biennial accountability indices and performance judgments also will be released.

Each year, Kentucky public school students participate in statewide assessments through KCCT and CTBS. The results of those assessments, along with nonacademic data, are used to determine overall school and district progress toward meeting biennial goals. The nonacademic data, which includes dropout, attendance, retention and successful transition to adult life rates, was released in May.

The data will be available on the Department of Education's Web site (http://www.education.ky.gov) in the early-morning hours of September 21.
