(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – At its meeting today in Frankfort, the Kentucky Board of Education agreed to reissue the solicitation for bids from firms interested in handle the search process for a new Kentucky Commissioner of Education.
After deliberations and interviews of two firms, the board could not come to a consensus on a selection. A new Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued for a firm to oversee the process. The two firms interviewed today may reapply.
The board also heard presentations and had discussion about assessment and accountability issues. No action was taken on those items, and they will be brought back to the board at its December meeting for possible final action.
The board agreed to approve the Pike County school district’s purchase of a site for the proposed new Central Elementary. The board also approved a waiver of forbearance agreement for mining rights beneath the property.
Other presentations and discussion included a review of a proposal for a Commonwealth Leadership Institute geared toward school administrators.
