Through assisting in the process of strategic planning and goal setting our office works with the Head Start community to improve collaboration with our many partner organizations, agencies and supporting foundations.
An Overview of Head Start and Early Head Start Programs
Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive child development programs, which serve children from birth to age 5, pregnant women, and their families. They are child-focused programs with the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of your children in low-income families.
Head Start and Early Head Start grantee and delegate agencies provide a range of individualized services in the areas of education and early childhood development by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children, and by extending medical, dental and mental health; nutrition; and parent involvement. Head Start has a long tradition of delivering comprehensive and high quality services designed to foster healthy development in low-income children that are responsive and appropriate to each child's and family's developmental, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage and experience.
Since 1965, Head Start has served more than 20.3 million children.
