Read to Achieve: Reading Diagnostic and Intervention Grant

The Read to Achieve Grant Program was created to focus on reading diagnostic and intensive reading intervention for struggling readers within the state primary program. The Reading Diagnostic and Intervention Grant Program is a competitive program that provides funds to schools to implement research-based reading diagnostic and intervention programs.
The early reading intervention program selected by the funded school must be based on reliable, replicable research and offer short-term intensive one-on-one or small group instruction in essential skills necessary for reading proficiency.

T-PRO FLEXIBLE TESTING WINDOW: FALL 2008

By now you should have received an email explaining the delay in shipping of test booklets. We have created a “flexible” window that should adjust to each school’s unique needs. The data trainings are planned for October 20 – 23. Because of the flexible window, schools will be returning materials for scoring at different times, so they may not receive their electronic scores prior to the October training, however there will be reports there for you to use.

WHEN TO BEGIN INTERVENTION SERVICES

It is the intent of the RTA grant that intervention services begin no later than the second week of school. Schools should NOT wait until receiving fall test scores to begin intervention services. Spring 2008 GRADE scores are to be used to identify students eligible for the program

KINDERGARTEN AND OTHER NEW STUDENTS

Until fall data is received, other appropriate assessments/measures must be used as the initial criteria to determine eligibility for intervention instruction for kindergarten students and primary students new to the school.
