Arts and Humanities instruction in Kentucky is going through a period of change. During the legislative session of 2009, the Kentucky Legislature began a major overhaul of teaching, learning, and assessment through Senate Bill 1. KRS 158.6453 mandates that schools will conduct a program review to analyze the components of their instructional programs and for these reviews to enter into a school’s accountability beginning in the 2011-2012 school year. A number of schools piloted the drafts of the Program Reviews from February to April of 2010. The reviews will be revised and available to schools for use in the 2010-2011 school year. All Kentucky Schools are urged to use the Program Review for practice during this time. The Program Reviews will become a part of a school’s accountability in the 2011-2012 school year.
