​In Kentucky schools, we will deliver classroom instruction that addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social dimensions of health; develops health knowledge, attitudes, and skills; and is tailored to each age level. It will motivate and assist students to maintain and improve their health, prevent disease, and reduce health-related risk behaviors.

National Health Education Standards - offer a coherent vision of what it means to be health literate. These Standards describe the knowledge and skills essential to the development of health literacy.

The Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) can help school districts, schools, and others conduct a clear, complete, and consistent analysis of health education curricula based on the National Health Education Standards and CDC’s Characteristics of an Effective Health Education Curriculum.
