The Kentucky Core Academic Standars (PDF) contain the minimum required standards that all Kentucky students should have the opportunity to learn before graduating from Kentucky high schools. The standards address what is to be learned, but do not address how learning experiences are to be designed or what resources should be used.
These materials should be used to support teachers' understanding of the assessment implications with the addition of DOK to the Core Content for Assessment.
The appenedices for the Common Core Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects are intended to accompany the Kentucky Core Academic Standards and provide supplementary readings and material to support the implementation of the standards.
The C3 Framework was developed to provide guidance for enhancing the rigor of K-12 civics, economics, geography and history. Its objectives are to: a) enhance the rigor of the social studies disciplines; b) build critical thinking, problem solving, and participatory skills to become engaged citizens; and c) align academic programs to the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies.
Core Content for Assessment version 4.1 represents the subset of Kentucky Core Acadmic Standards (KCAS) content that will be included on the state assessment (K-PREP) for Science and Social Studies. This content is designed for use with, not instead of, Kentucky's Core Academic Standards.
