Crosswalk - Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Comparison to Kentucky State Standards

Published: 10/22/2012 8:29 AM

During the 2010-11 academic year, schools and districts will begin to implement the Kentucky Core Academic Standards for mathematics and English/language arts. In order to assist with the transition to these standards, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has produced a crosswalk resource that will present the alignment of Common Core State Standards, those standards used to develop the Kentucky Core Academic Standards, and the current Kentucky standards found in the Program of Studies. While developing this crosswalk, KDE staff members used a tool and process designed by Achieve, Inc.

For accountability purposes, the Kentucky Core Academic Standards will not be used for state assessment until the 2011-12 academic year. Throughout the 2010-11 year, KDE and the Content Leadership Networks will continue to publish additional resources that will enhance implementation of the new standards. This crosswalk publication will benefit educators by presenting the standards alignment, which can be used to inform instruction, plan professional learning and determine necessary curriculum materials.
Below is a short guide that will help you understand and interpret these crosswalks.
These bookmarked crosswalk resources are organized by CCSS standards and present the alignment of Common Core State Standards statements to Program of Studies statements. These crosswalk documents include internal links for ease of mobility throughout the document. Standards strands and clusters are clearly identified. Educators may want to use these resources for curriculum planning and mapping purposes.
