IT Architecture Standards enable commonality and consistency within and across the Kentucky Education Technology Systems (KETS) functions and locations. They also drive down product cost where appropriate and simplify complex problems by identifying specific products, services, or processes known to produce the best results for the Kentucky Department of Education, local schools and districts.

The Office of Knowledge Information Data Systems (KIDS) works collaboratively with regional representatives on the Architectural Standards Committee to develop standards that benefit and compliment KETS initiatives. These standards support KETS and provide consistency within districts. Standards help ensure system supportability across all districts.
Standards approved by KIDS are developed solely for KDE and local school districts to support the KETS Network. There are also
Commonwealth Office of Technology (COT) Standards in place to support the state technology vision. These standards are separate from KIDS standards but are available as guides for districts developing applicable solutions.
