​Title I, Part A and Community Eligibility Provision

The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a meal service option for schools and school districts in low income areas. CEP was created through the passage of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Act of 2010 (HHFKA, Public Law 111-296; December 13, 2010), and was phased in over the past several years by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

CEP permits eligible schools to provide meal service to all students free of charge, regardless of economic status, while reducing the burden at the household and local levels by eliminating the need to obtain eligibility data from families through a separate collection.
