The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Next-Generation Learners, Division of Next Generation Professionals in Frankfort (Franklin County) has an opening for a KBE/KDE Division Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the administrative direction of the Associate Commissioner for the Office of Next- Generation Learners, the Division Director for the Division of Next Generation Professionals will:
Provide leadership, oversight, and direction to 2 branches: Teacher and Leader Effectiveness, Educator Diversity and Equity.
Convene, maintain, and implement statewide initiatives related to Senate Bill 1(2009) and the state NCLB waiver requirements.
Determine departmental objectives, standards, and policies related to educator effectiveness aligned with the goals of the Office of Next Generation Learners and the Kentucky Board of Education delivery goals.
Communicate departmental objectives, standards, and policies to various stakeholders.
Provide administrative oversight, direction, and management to the branch managers and program staff that provide technical assistance and direction to local education agencies in planning, developing, and implementing agency priorities for continuous improvement in teaching and learning, and educator effectiveness.
Collaborate with agency staff and local school districts in the recruitment and hiring of staff via Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
Support and provide technical assistance to agency heads, department staff and local districts as needed to integrate and align efforts related to minority recruitment, educator effectiveness, and Title II programming with other Unbridled Learning initiatives.
Ensure that all applicable statutes and administrative regulations are followed.
Ensure that all federal and state monitoring is completed in a timely manner.
Administer personnel policies, prepare and submit budgets, and monitor budgets in collaboration with office staff to assure expenditures remain within approved limitations and align with agency goals.

Must be a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in education. Must have 5 years of experience in the field of education. Demonstrated leadership experience at district/school level.
Evidence of experience in working with the Professional Growth and Effectiveness System either as an administrator implementing or a part of the development process. Demonstrated evidence of implementation of initiatives related to district/school improvement; strong facilitation skills; national/state presentations or publications; advanced degree in curriculum and instruction or education leadership. Working knowledge of and advocate for CIITS/EDS/PD 360. Demonstrated understanding of continuous improvement.
Graduate study will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

The salary for this position is competitive and will be commensurate with education and experience of the successful candidate.
