Guidance High Quality Virtual Courses and Programs

The Kentucky Digital Guidelines have been designed as guidance for schools, districts, and digital providers when selecting or creating developmentally appropriate digital and blended learning resources for instruction, as well as virtual courses in Kentucky schools.

By using these guidelines districts and schools will confidently be able to offer high quality, standards-based digital course content coupled with effective digital pedagogy including ongoing analysis of quality, effectiveness, and student-centered success. Providers of digital and blended learning resources for instruction, as well as virtual courses will conduct ongoing analysis of quality, effectiveness, and alignment to the Kentucky Digital Guidelines to share with recipient districts and schools.

Recognizing high quality virtual courses and programs is a skill that can be developed by becoming familiar with the criteria from the following documents and organizations:

The International Association of K-12 Online Learning

AdvancEd Standards for Quality of Digital Learning Institutions
