Overview

The Professional Growth and Effectiveness System (PGES) regulation, 704 KAR 3:370, requires documentation in the, "department-approved platform."  Teachers and principals use EDS to record Self-Reflections, create Professional Growth Plans, work through the Student Growth Goal setting process, conduct observations, connect observation results to professional learning experiences, and view their Student Voice Survey results.

News & Updates

16.1 Update

CIITS version 16.1 is now live and includes design enhancements to the entire CIITS site.  With this update comes a new, fresh look for the Professional Growth Planning tool.  The Professional Growth Plan itself remains the same; however, the format has changed.  To view a complete list of the changes 16.1 added, review the EDS 16.1 Update chart.

Peer Observation
The Peer Observation tool currently requires the peer observer to enter text/evidence for all components before it can be submitted as final. Peer Observations can still be created and shared without entering evidence for all components. Once this issue has been corrected, the observer can then submit the observation as final.  KDE will communicate as soon as this correction occurs and the Peer Observation Tool returns to normal functionality.

Student Growth Goal Resolutions
Note:  It may be necessary to clear the cache in the browser or refresh 1-2 times to establish a new connection to access the applied fixes.

Issue: Partial completed Student Growth Goal will not load. OR  Cannot submit SGG.  Receive an error message.
Resolution: No additional action on part of teacher.  Student Growth Goal process will now function properly.

Issue: Teacher submitted the SGGs to an inactive user account.
Resolution:
  • Teacher/Principal/POC must open a case with the CIITS Help Desk to have the SGG set back to “In Progress”
  • Teacher will edit SGG and submit to the correct account (inactive will not be showing anymore) from the list.
Issue: Teacher submitted the SGG to a valid email address but it cannot be reviewed
Resolution:
  • Teacher/Principal/POC must  open a case with the CIITS Help Desk to have the SGG set back to “In Progress”
  • Teacher will edit SGG and submit to the correct account. It may be necessary to coordinate with the person to whom the SGG is being submitted in order to have them change their location to the same school of the teacher.  Once they display in the list, the teacher may submit the SGG to them for review.

Observation Time Saving Tips
See the short video below to learn about adding scripted evidence as an artifact to the observation tool. Principals will align the evidence and make note of that in the script. They will link to each of the components observed and reference the notes in the artifact. However, once the artifact is attached additionally copying and pasting all of the evidence to each of the components within the tool is not a requirement.

District Level Administrator – Access to School Confidential Information
A district level administrator who is the immediate supervisor of a certified employee (OPGES or TPGES) and responsible for the evaluation of an employee may access the sources of evidence associated with this employee by being assigned School Leadership permission at the individual school where the employee is assigned. (All professionals participating in OPGES must be assigned in Infinite Campus to an individual school.) The district leadership may access the employee’s sources of evidence once they have changed their default institution located in “My Account.”
Note: Once the district administrator has been granted School Leadership permission at an individual school in order to evaluate an employee the administrator will have access in CIITS to all employees’ sources of evidence at that school to which they are assigned.

PGES KTIP Pilot

These materials are for those districts who are participating in the 2014-15 PGES KTIP Pilot.  Those KTIP interns not participating in the pilot will use the traditional KTIP program and will not need these resources.

Superintendent & PPGES Evaluator

Two additional roles have been added to CIITS and Infinite Campus to support PPGES. The role of “CIITS District Leader Evaluator” enables the superintendent or his designee to view self-reflections and approve the PGPs of principals in the district; this role is being automatically assigned to all active superintendents as long as they are properly defined in Infinite Campus. The role of “CIITS School Leader Evaluator” enables principals or designees to view self-reflections and approve the PGPs of assistant principals within their school. This role is automatically assigned to all active principals as long as they are properly defined in Infinite Campus.
In the future, the “CIITS District Leader Evaluator” role will also allow users to record site visits of principals. Superintendents, and their designees who have been assigned the “CIITS District Leader Evaluator” role, will receive this ability with no action required by the district.
Both roles are available in Infinite Campus to be assigned to individuals (designees) other than the superintendent and principal that are serving as evaluators of principals and assistant principals.
