Toni
Konz Tatman was named chief communications officer for the Kentucky Department
of Education (KDE) in January 2020.
Tatman,
a native of Milwaukee, received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the
University of Southern Mississippi in 2003. Prior to joining KDE, she was
communications coordinator for Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) and
covered education in three states as a journalist for over 16 years. For more
than 10 years, she reported on JCPS and other K-12 education issues in Kentucky
for both the Courier Journal and WDRB-TV in Louisville. Before that, she was
the education reporter covering K-12 education for the Montgomery (Ala.)
Advertiser and the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American.
Tatman enjoys
spending time with her husband and son in her free time.
