Smart Snacks

Published: 6/27/2018 8:24 AM

Smart Snacks Standards are a federal requirement for all foods  sold outside the National School Lunch Program and the School  Breakfast Program during the school day.  These standards apply to foods and beverages sold in school stores, snack bars, and  vending machines, as well as, a' la carte items sold in the school cafeteria.  Kentucky Administrative Regulation 702 KAR 6:090,  which establishes minimum nutritional standards for foods and  beverages available on Kentucky school campuses during the  day, has been revised and now aligns with the federal Smart  Snacks Standards.
