Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Special Education and Early
Learning (OSEEL), Division of IDEA Monitoring and Results in Frankfort
(Franklin County) has an opening for an Assistant Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide administrative support services to a division director. Provide technical management assistance to organizational units within the Division of IDEA Monitoring and Results.
Assist in managing the work of the Individual Programming Branch within the Division of IDEA Monitoring and Results. Assist the director in the coordination of inter-division, interoffice and cross-agency work.
Provide technical assistance to the Kentucky Department of Education. Accurately interpret and accurately apply federal and state statues, regulations, and policies and procedures related to Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Assist the director in the development and revision of regulations as needed. Prepare briefing materials and presentations for the director. Perform the duties of and represent the Division in the absence of the Division Director.
Write, review, analyze, and monitor correspondence and reports for accuracy and conformity with policies and procedures.
Locate, create, lead and engage in professional development within the Division to promote growth of staff in the area of evidence-based practices for diverse learners.
Perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
Special Education certification required.EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Four years of administrative or management experience.SUBSTITUTION: EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience. EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year- for-year basis.Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check.Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment will be given. In accordance with KRS 161.220 the applicant selected for this position will become a member of the Teachers' Retirement System.NOTE:
This position will be filled through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The applicant selected for this position must be an employee of a Kentucky local school district or institution of higher education. Employment contract will be in effect through the end of the current fiscal year, which is through June 30, 2021, and is renewable on a year-by-year basis for up to a maximum of three years.
