The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Continuous Improvement and Support (OCIS), Division of Student Success, Safe and Supportive Schools Branch, in Frankfort (Franklin County) has an opening for an Education Program Consultant.
This is a federally funded time limited (FFTL) position. This means the position is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification but is not required to take an examination or be graded through the testing and evaluation process. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide training, technical assistance, and consultative services to KDE staff, Educational Cooperatives, and district staff in the implementation of Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS)/Interconnected Systems Framework (ISF) with fidelity.
Training topics will include district readiness for and orientation to PBIS/ISF, implementing a multitiered system of support, utilizing restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches use of the Tiered Fidelity Inventory, classroom management strategies, social-emotional competencies, youth mental health first aid, suicide prevention, bullying prevention, and school safety.
Responsible for training events being delivered in a structured manner, documented, and assessed for effectiveness.
Responsible for all training coordination to ensure continuous quality improvement for districts. Coordination of these PBIS training and consultation services will include creation of all training materials including advertisement on Professional Learning Bulletin Board and at conferences, and analysis of the participant evaluations.
Participate in interagency and cross agency workgroups to ensure continuous improvement efforts in PBIS/ISF.
Create and disseminate guidance, resources, and professional development for district staff as it pertains to PBIS.
Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Three years of professional experience in education, career and technical education, or a related field.

Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Department of Education or Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement. Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the required educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
