Todd G. Allen is general counsel for the Kentucky
Department of Education (KDE) and the Kentucky Board of Education. He joined KDE’s
Office of Legal Services in 2014 and previously held the roles of assistant
general counsel, deputy general counsel and interim general counsel.
Allen earned a bachelor’s
degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky (UK) in 2007, and his juris
doctor from UK’s College of Law in 2010. Prior to joining KDE, he worked as an
associate attorney for a regional law firm where he practiced civil litigation,
including defense of school districts, officials and staff. Allen previously held
various officer roles in the National Council of State Education Attorneys and
served as chair of the Kentucky Bar Association’s Education Law Section.
Allen is originally from
Meade County and currently resides in Lexington.
