Steve Trimble of Van Lear is a retired educator with more than 30 years of service to Kentucky's public schools.
Trimble spent the majority of his public school career working in Johnson County Schools, where he started as a wrestling coach and health and physical education instructor. He later worked as an assistant principal, athletic director, principal, assistant superintendent and finally, superintendent for eight years until his retirement in 2014.
Throughout his career, Trimble coached a variety of sports, from wrestling and football to baseball and track. He briefly served as interim superintendent for Floyd County Schools in 2017.
Currently, Trimble is a part-time consultant for the Kentucky Educational Development Corporation (KEDC), where he provides leadership training for more than 60 superintendents. He previously had served as the KEDC chairman. In 2010, Trimble was awarded KEDC Superintendent of the Year.
He earned his bachelor's in physical education from Pikeville College, and a master's in health and physical education and his Rank I certification in administration from Morehead University. He earned his superintendent certificate from Union College.
He is a graduate of Johnson Central High School (Johnson County).
Trimble was appointed to the Kentucky Board of Education in December 2021. His term will expire April 14, 2028.
