Counseling, Psychological, and Social Services

These services are provided to improve students’ mental, emotional, and social health and include individual and group assessments, interventions, and referrals. Organizational assessment and consultation skills of counselors and psychologists contribute not only to the health of students but also to the health of the school environment. Professionals such as certified school counselors, psychologists, and social workers provide these services.

In Kentucky schools, we will make available high quality counseling, psychological and social services. This will engage students in activities that focus on cognitive, emotional, behavioral and social needs of individuals, groups, and families. It will be designed to prevent and address problems, facilitate positive learning and healthy behavior, and enhance healthy development.
 

Comprehensive School Counseling

This website provides information, resources and tools designed to assist schools and districts in providing effective school counseling services that improve student achievement and support the needs of the whole child. Defines the role of a Kentucky counselor and lists the core values of comprehensive school counseling. Provides access to Kentucky school counseling listservs, links to Kentucky school counselor programs and professional organizations.
