Welcome to the Office of Education Technology (OET)
At the Kentucky Department of Education, OET is dedicated to empowering KY K-12 educators, students, leaders, staff, and parents in our 171 school districts and KDE the agency organizations through innovative and meaningful technology solutions. We strive to create a dynamic and inclusive digital learning environment that enhances educational outcomes and prepares students for the future. KY K-12 EdTech has been and still is the pioneer and national leader in most aspects of EdTech since 1992 but we are always striving to get better.
OET is responsible for the Kentucky Education Technology Systems (KETS) that was birthed in 1992 from of the Kentucky Education Reform Act of 1990. Since that time, OET has strived to enact efficient, effective and fiscally prudent technologies that provide Commonwealth public K-12 students, teachers and administrators with technologies that enable them to do their best to learn the skills and fulfill the local school boards and the Kentucky Board of Education's vision for students of the Commonwealth.
Therefore, OET's mission is to provide state-of-the-art technology resources, support, and training to ensure that every student and adult in Kentucky public K-12 organizations have access to high-quality education. From implementing cutting-edge classroom technologies to ensuring robust cybersecurity measures, OET is committed to fostering a culture of digital excellence across all public schools in the Commonwealth.
