School Bus Inspector Certification

• ​Eligibility:​
• ​Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, or repair of heavy trucks or school buses.​
  
• Driver's License: Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger (P) endorsement.​​
• Testing:
• Classroom Instruction: Successful completion of an eight (8) hour classroom instruction.
• Hands-On Assessment: Successful completion of a practical skills evaluation administered by a certified School Bus Inspector Instructor.
  

Recertification

Per 702 KAR 5:030​, a​ll certified school bus inspectors must complete a four-hour recertification training class annually to retain certification.​​
