Update school bus driver CDL and medical exam certificate information in KDE's School Bus Driver Database and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's CDL Document Portal.
Update school bus driver inactive/termination date in KDE's School Bus Driver Database any time a school bus driver is no employed by your district (or is on medical leave).
School Bus Safety Training – throughout the school year for P-12.
Bus Evacuation #1 – Must be completed during the first full week after start of school.
Bus Evacuation #2 – Must be completed before the end of first semester.
Bus Evacuation #3 – Must be completed during the first full week after Winter Break.
Bus Evacuation #4 – Must be completed during the second semester before the end of school.
KDE hosts training classes for incoming Directors of Transportation during Spring Break and one week during Summer Break.
School Bus Driver Training Instructor Workshops are held during Spring Break and Summer Break.
School Bus Driver Training Instructor 6-hour recertification training classes are held during Summer Break.
School Bus Inspector 4-hour recertification training classes are held during Summer Break.
Driver Review #1 must be completed within 5 days of completion of core curriculum instruction.
Driver Review #2 must be completed approximately 20-30 days after Driver Review #1.
Driver Review #3 must be completed within 3-6 months after Driver Review #2.
August
August 1st – School Bus Incident Reports due for prior fiscal year.
Bus Evacuation #1 – Must be completed during the first full week after start of school.
September
September 1st – Download, update and email school district school bus inventory spreadsheet to KDE.
October
October 1st – Inform KISTA if buses are to be financed.
October 1st – School Bus Ordering System is available.
October 14th – School Bus inventory due for processing.
November
November 1st – Transportation Growth Factor Adjustment Form due.
November 1st – Last day to inform KISTA for bus financing.
November 15th – Late bus orders due for May delivery.
NOTE: No guarantee of May delivery after this date.
December
Bus Evacuation #2 – Must be completed before the end of first semester.
December 30th – Verify school bus inventory information In Bus Inventory Application. Make changes
as required in system.
December 31st - Bus Inventory changes lock out to calculate SEEK funding for bus inventory.
January
January 1 - Seek Funding Decpreciation Report generates.
Bus Evacuation #3 – Must be completed during the first full week after Winter Break.
March/April
First School Bus Driver Training Instructor Workshop is held during Spring Break.
May
May 31st – Kentucky School for the Deaf & Blind Daily Form due.
May 31st – Kentucky School for the Deaf & Blind Resident Form due.
June
June 30th – Transportation End of Year Form Due

July 8th – Certification of Transportation Mileage Due
