The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Special Education and Early Learning, Division of State Schools, Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD) in Danville, Kentucky (Boyle County) has an opening for an Audiologist II.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform professional work in identifying, appraising, and interpreting communicative disorders of hearing. Participate in habilitative and rehabilitative programming for children with hearing loss.
Conduct audiological assessments and write subsequent reports for triennial or special evaluations of students. Interpret results. Provide technical assistance.
Monitor functions of student's hearing devices. Provide professional development and serve as a resource to staff and families.
Conduct hearing aid evaluations and check as needed. Counsel students/families regarding amplification options.
Manage the use and calibration of audiometric equipment and loaner hearing devices. Ensure annual calibration of equipment and submit reports.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Doctor in Audiology from a college or university accredited by the Council for Academic Accreditation of the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING OR SKILLS:
None.
SUBSTITUTION:
EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
A Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council for Academic Accreditation of the American Speech Language Hearing Association conferred before January 1, 2007, will substitute for the Doctorate in Audiology.
EXPERIENCE FOR EDUCATION:
None.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess an audiology license or be eligible for licensure from the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. The license must be active by the start of employment. Must be certified or eligible for certification by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Certification must be active by the end of probationary period. Must maintain any required licensure, certification, or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure, certification, or other credentials.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Prior knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred.
