Communications Digital Media Consultant - MOA

​The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL), is seeking a Communications/Digital Media Consultant – MOA position in Franklin County.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop comprehensive and strategic communications plans for the Division of Program Standards, Division of Early Literacy, Kentucky Numeracy Counts Team and for specific initiatives and varying educational stakeholders, which include press releases, social media posts in coordination with the KDE Division of Communications and sending targeted messaging from the OTL to listservs and partner organizations.

Maintain an ADA compliant web presence that is visually appealing and user-friendly across KYstandards.org, KyMTSS.org, Kylearninghub.org and applicable webpages on the KDE website.

Provide editing and final formatting support for the publication of public facing documents that ensure ADA compliance and maintain the KDE brand.

Facilitate and publish the Standards Newsletter, KyMTSS Newsletter, Early Literacy Newsletter and Kentucky Numeracy Counts Newsletter in coordination with division directors and program consultants.

Write feature stories highlighting local districts related to OTL's work in the field.

Produce eye-catching graphics, illustrations, and images for use in marketing materials, social media posts, blog articles, and other communications channels.

Serve as an administrator for Kylearninghub.org (Canvas, KDE's professional learning management system), support the communication of agencywide expectations for high-quality professional learning (PL), and ensure quality and consistency across PL published by the KDE.

Evaluate OTL communications effectiveness by collecting data from internal and external stakeholders to assess if objectives are being met and to improve results.

Coordinate the publication of meeting announcements with the KDE Division of Communications.

Maintain OTL SharePoint directory and make necessary SharePoint structural changes in response to office needs.

Maintain the OTL YouTube channel.

Help refine and maintain inner-office procedures for editing, review, and publication of documents.

Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or demonstrate at least five years of work history in a related position.

Desired Skills:

Strong written communication skills.

Knowledge of APA Style Guide and strong editing skills.

Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Knowledge of Office 365 and Google Workspace.

Knowledge of Section 508 ADA compliance rules for documents and web.

Knowledge of Canvas as a professional learning management system.

Website design focused on user experience.

Knowledge of Graphic design.

Knowledge of Social media.

Strong organization skills.

Preferred Skills:

Background in the field of education, preferably K-12 public schools.

Knowledge of SharePoint.

Knowledge of Photography.

Knowledge of Video editing.
 
Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check.

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment will be given.

In accordance with KRS 161.220 the applicant selected for this position will become a member of the Teachers' Retirement System. 

NOTE: This position is eligible for consideration for a hybrid schedule that allows for a combination of in-office and approved alternative work scheduling. The agency may terminate or modify the telecommuting arrangement at any time.

NOTE: This position will be filled through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The applicant selected for this position must be an employee of a Kentucky local school district or institution of higher education.
