The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Continuous Improvement and Support, Division of Student Success, Student Engagement and Support, has an opening for an Education Program Consultant, in Franklin County.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Persistence to Graduation (PtG) Education Consultant will provide support to schools and districts to ensure that all students are supported to enable them to succeed in school until they graduate. The consultant will coordinate and deliver professional learning opportunities and disseminate resources to support schools and districts in dropout prevention and student re-engagement strategies that enable students to meet graduation requirements. The consultant will work with agency partners, districts, schools, and alternative education programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop resources and communication materials that support educators and schools/districts through the creation of safe, inviting, and engaging learning environments using a continuum of school-wide, evidence-based practices matched to each student's individual academic and behavioral needs. This includes training on using data from the statewide student information system, such as Early Warning, Insights, and other tools, to identify and support students who may become off-track to graduate.
Interpret, apply, and enforce state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and policies relating to compulsory attendance as well as other areas of responsibility within the Division of Student Success and Office of Continuous Improvement and Support.
Implement project goals as identified by the Division of Student Success and the Office of Continuous Improvement and Support.
Collaborate with other offices and stakeholders within and outside the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) for work relating to alternative education, school climate/culture and any other initiatives relating to persistence to graduation.
Support division work that includes Title IV, Part A, Alternative Education Programs, and other division projects, as needed.
Contribute to the Division of Student Success' implementation of KDE's Strategic Plan.
Collect and analyze data through ongoing improvement processes.
Serve as the KDE point of contact for No Pass/No Drive.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Three years of professional experience in education, career and technical education, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Department of Education or Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement. Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the required educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Substantive experience in the implementation of dropout prevention and student re-engagement strategies, including but not limited to the use of dropout early warning systems to drive interventions, alternative education, credit recovery, blended learning, promoting positive school climate and culture, project-based learning, competency-based education, career and technical education, student mentoring programs, dual-enrollment opportunities, wrap-around services, trauma-informed practices, reducing chronic absenteeism, etc.

NOTE: This position is eligible for consideration for a hybrid schedule that allows for a combination of in-office and approved alternative work scheduling. The agency may terminate or modify the telecommuting arrangement at any time.
NOTE: This position will be filled through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The applicant selected for this position must be an employee of a Kentucky local school district or institution of higher education.
