Educational Academic Program Consultant Elementary Mathematics Consultant MOA

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Teaching and Learning, has an opening for an Educational Academic Program Consultant, Elementary Mathematics Consultant, in Franklin County.

​DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop resources to support the implementation of the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Mathematics with a focus on elementary grades.

Provide customer service through various communications modalities to support the field in the implementation of the KAS for Mathematics.

Work with internal and external partners to support the implementation of the KAS for Mathematics.

Perform other duties as assigned.
 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Must be a graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education or related field. Must have three years of professional experience in education. Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement. Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the required educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. 

Applicants should have a strong working knowledge of the Kentucky Academic Standards for Mathematics with specific focus on the elementary grades. Candidates should also have:

Strong knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and pedagogy specific to mathematics, including the mathematics content and practices within the KAS for Mathematics.

Understanding of early numeracy including knowledge of the progression around procedural skill and fluency, building from conceptual understanding to application within grades K - 5.

Knowledge of high-quality instructional resources, and how they are critical to student success.

Experience teaching in the K-5 classroom.

Experience in planning, developing and implementing professional learning.

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment will be given. 

NOTE: This position is eligible for consideration for a hybrid schedule that allows for a combination of in-office and approved alternative work scheduling. The agency may terminate or modify the telecommuting arrangement at any time.
 
NOTE: This position will be filled through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The applicant selected for this position must be an employee of a Kentucky local school district or institution of higher education.
