The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Continuous Improvement and Support, Division of School and Program Improvement and Support, District 180, has an opening for an Educational Recovery Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Educational Recovery Director (ERD) will be responsible for collaborating with the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) to coordinate all resources for schools identified in need of assistance by the KDE. Schools are identified for educational recovery based on the criteria set forth in Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), KRS 160.346, 703 KAR 5:280, and other KDE regulations. The guidance of the ERD will focus on any and all functions relating to instructional leadership and school improvement.
The ERD will supervise Educational Recovery Specialists (ERSs), Educational Recovery Leaders (ERLs) and coordinate resources (including multiple educational partners, business, civic and faith-based providers) and provide leadership to ensure success in the following areas:
Culture, including defining resources and outlining activities that will make the school function as an effective learning community to support and promote a safe and orderly environment that is conducive to learning,
Support services and resources, including working with families and community groups to remove barriers to learning,
School leadership, including focusing instructional decisions of the school's leadership teams around support for teaching and learning and developing leadership skills, and the implementation of evidence-based practices to support teaching and learning,
Organization around all the school's available resources to ensure maximum effectiveness,
Planning, development, implementation, monitoring, communication, and evaluation of comprehensive school improvement plans (CSIPs) and embedded turnaround plans, and
Compliance issues, including following all guidelines outlined in the school improvement funds application.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Must be a graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education or related field. Must have five years of professional experience in education. Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement. Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the required educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment will be given.
NOTE: This position is eligible for consideration for a hybrid schedule that allows for a combination of in-office and approved alternative work scheduling. The agency may terminate or modify the telecommuting arrangement at any time.
NOTE: This position will be filled through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The applicant selected for this position must be an employee of a Kentucky local school district or institution of higher education.
