Parents and Guardians Interested in an Online/Virtual Progam?
Kentucky's public school districts are granted the ability to design online/virtual programs to meet the needs of their students and community. If you are a parent or guardian seeking information about online/virtual enrollment for your student, start by inquiring with your resident school district to see if they have a program to meet your needs. If they do not, neighboring school districts could have programs and your student may be eligible to enroll based on the district's non-resident enrollment policy. Most parents and guardians find an online/virtual enrollment option in this way. If you struggle to find an option or have questions, please use the contact information at the bottom of this page.
Districts Designing an Online/Virtual Program for your Students?
You have several options to design the program that fits the needs of your students and community. The toolkit linked below is designed as a collaborative exercise for district leaders to provide considerations and actionable steps to help create high-quality online learning experiences for students. The information and examples are aligned to the Kentucky Digital Learning Guidelines, National Standards for Quality Online Programs, relevant Kentucky statutes and regulations, KDE guidance, and examples from online, virtual and remote learning programs across the state of Kentucky.
The five categories of the toolkit are aligned to the Kentucky Digital Learning Guidelines. Each category identifies considerations to ensure consistency of the program to relevant policies, procedures, and best practice. There are also resources for each category to put all the information at the fingertips of leaders while designing or refining your program. New material will be added based upon district questions, needs, and relevant updates that occur affecting your program design. Check back frequently and use the contact information at the bottom of the page for questions and assistance.
