Healthy Students Are Better Learners
The mission of the School Health Services team is to support districts as they support students with their health needs. We know that there is a critical link between health and learning and the role of schools to help improve the well-being of students.
Research shows that when school districts and schools have effective policies and practices that support the health of their students and staff there are positive results:
Student concentration improves
Student behavior problems are reduced
Student and staff attendance increases
Children and adolescents develop life-long health-promoting behavior
**2025 KDE Health Services District Health Coordinators Meeting**
Registration for the regional KDE District Health Coordinator meetings is now open! Unfortunately, due to logistics we are unable to accommodate anyone wanting to join virtually or record any of these sessions. We encourage you to register soon for your preferred location. Please honor your registration through attendance at the meeting. Unused spots could prevent others' attendance if space becomes an issue.
The KDE School Health Branch encourages each district to bring one additional key staff member who would benefit from updates and training on student health data entry and reporting. If you are a DHC who does not serve as a school nurse or enter student health data, we strongly recommend inviting a school nurse familiar with these processes to support accurate documentation throughout the year. If you are a DHC or school health employee who is already entering this information, bringing an additional staff member will
not be necessary. We would like to ask all districts to please limit attendance
to one additional staff member per district, and ensure they also complete the registration form.
