Healthy Students Are Better Learners
There is a critical link between health and learning and the role of schools to help improve the well-being of students, families, and the entire school community. Research shows that when school districts and schools have effective policies and practices that support the health of their students and staff:
- Student concentration improves
- Student behavior problems are reduced
- Student and staff attendance increases
- Children and adolescents develop life-long health-promoting behaviors
"School health programs offer the opportunity to provide the services and knowledge necessary to enable children to be productive learners and to develop the skills to make healthy decisions for the rest of their lives." - National School Boards Association.
