The Kentucky Department of Education will again participate in the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools (ED-GRS) recognition award.
ED Green Ribbon Schools webpage
This award recognizes the highest performing green and healthy schools in the nation. It honors schools that are exemplary in reducing environmental impact and cost; improving the health and wellness of students and staff; and providing effective environmental and sustainability education, which incorporates STEM, civic skills and green career pathways. Combined achievement in these three areas, collectively known as “Pillars” serves as the basis for recognition. A key partner in this endeavor with the U.S. Department of Education (ED) is the Campaign for Environmental Literacy.
