Welcome! Whether you are a parent, an educator, a student or simply an interested new resident, we welcome you. This section of our website is designed to give new residents basic information about our state's education system. Our aim is to help you make informed decisions about selecting a school for your child, enrolling your child in our public schools and becoming a teacher or administrator in Kentucky.

The Kentucky School Report Card (SRC) Suite provides families, educators, and communities with access to statewide education data through tools designed to promote transparency and informed decision-making. The SRC Suite includes the Kentucky School Report Card, Campus Parent & Student Portal, and Open House. Together, these resources support Kentucky's commitment to open data by making school, district and state-level information accessible and easy to understand.

Kentucky has a rich history of innovation in education. The Commonwealth's education reform initiative, which started in 1990 and continues today, is recognized worldwide as the most comprehensive and sustained education reform effort ever undertaken in the United States.

Today, that innovation continues with United We Learn, the vision for the future of public education in Kentucky. The Kentucky Department of Education has brought together a diverse set of stakeholders working and learning together in an inclusive and empathetic way. These stakeholders make up the Kentucky United We Learn Council. Members are exploring how we create the future of education by advancing three connected ideas: vibrant learning experiences for every student; encouraging innovation in assessment and accountability; and collaborating closely with communities.

If you are a parent seeking enrollment information, read the Kentucky's School Enrollment Requirements webpage, which includes information about preschool, what documents you need to register a child and other requirements.

If you're looking to contact a school or district, visit their website, or if you are seeking information about the academic standing or accountability results of a specific school, visit KDE's Open House data portal or the Kentucky School Report Card.

If you are an educator seeking certification to teach in Kentucky, visit the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board's website.

And visit KDE's flagship publication, Kentucky Teacher, for information about great things happening in Kentucky's public schools.
