The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Continuous Improvement and Support (OCIS), Division of School and Program Improvement, District 180 has an opening for a Continuous Improvement Coach - Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to be located in Frankfort, KY.
The primary function of this position is to assist in building a system of collaborative support for partners, districts, and schools across Kentucky. This role focuses on supporting the implementation of sustainable systems designed to close achievement gaps and improve student growth and achievement through continuous improvement practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Support school and district teams in effectively leveraging needs‑assessment tools such as the Key Core Work Processes to develop a clear and accurate picture of current practice. Provide structured coaching to staff as they analyze qualitative and quantitative data, examine instructional patterns and investigate root causes that influence student learning and school/district operations.
Support school and district leaders with the development, implementation and continuous refinement of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and/or the Comprehensive District Improvement Plan (CDIP).
Facilitate cycles of monitoring, feedback, and transparent communication to ensure the CSIP/CDIP remains a living document that drives sustainable improvement.
Collaborate with school and district leaders to develop and implement a clear, coherent instructional vision that aligns to shared goals and drives high‑quality teaching and learning.
Support school and district leaders in systematically aligning curriculum to the Kentucky Academic Standards through a continuous improvement process. Ensure effective implementation of High‑Quality Instructional Resources (HQIRs) by strengthening instructional coherence through intellectual preparation to deepen teacher and leader understanding of content, standards, expected outcomes and the arc of learning within each unit.
Coordinate and design professional learning by working collaboratively to engage partners, districts and schools in implementing strategies grounded in John Hattie's research and learning science principles (how people learn). Ensure professional learning is purposeful, data‑informed and targeted to closing achievement gaps, ultimately driving sustained improvement in professional practice and student outcomes.
Serve as a knowledge broker to support schools and districts in identifying evidence‑based practices by examining high‑quality research, implementation data, and student performance trends, and applying these practices intentionally to strengthen instruction, address learner needs and improve student outcomes. Develop resources and communication materials to support educators and schools/districts related to closing the achievement gap.
Serve as liaison to professional organizations and other agencies and partners and hold a belief system exhibited by work ethic and approach that achievement gaps can and will be closed in Kentucky.
Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Applicants must hold a Master's degree or related field in education from a college or university and must have five years of professional experience in the field of education.
SUBSTITUTION CLAUSE:Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement. Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the required educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

The applicant selected for this position must be an employee of a Kentucky local school district or institution of higher education. Employment contract will be for one year (235 days), renewable based on funding.
