Serves as a part of the OCTE Leadership team and provides input as needed and requested in all areas.
Perform general administrative office duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining records management systems, and performing basic recordkeeping.
Answer phones and provide information to callers.
Keep manuals current. Draft and type correspondence, memos, reports and documents. Proofread correspondence and reports for accuracy.
Manage Facility Usage & Medicaid Nurse Aide contract process for the area technology centers. Prepare and post contracts.
Schedule appointments, reservations and travel arrangements for the Associate Commissioner or office staff.
Manage and maintain supervisor's schedule.
Greets internal and external customers and committee members on behalf of the department.
Schedule and prepare conference rooms for meetings. Perform special projects upon request. Prepares and restores rooms for meetings.
Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email.
Prepare Department Purchase Requisitions (DPR), travel requests in state, all out of state requests, and pro-card payments for Associate Commissioner and other staff.
Attends OCTE leadership meetings and provides and distributes accurate minutes.
Follows up on action items to ensure completion.
Maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
Serves as point of contact for OCTE.
Interpret regulations according to well defined standards and apply rules to a variety of work situations.
Review operating practices and procedures to determine whether improvements are needed for administrative workflow.
Provides information and updates to the Associate Commissioner regarding OCTE news.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
One year of experience in administration, secretarial, economic development, or government services, or a related field is preferred.

The Kentucky Department of Education is a service agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and part of the Education and Labor Cabinet. The department provides resources and guidance to Kentucky's public schools and districts as they implement the state's P-12 education requirements.
